This backyard in South Minneapolis had a worn multi-level deck taking up space without doing much for the homeowner. Old decks like that are a common headache - they require constant upkeep, they rot, they fade, and eventually they just become an eyesore. Tearing it out and starting fresh with a paver patio was the right call.

We demo'd the deck completely and got to work on a clean paver patio install. The layout gives the backyard a much more open, functional feel. No more awkward levels or questionable structural integrity - just a solid, flat surface that's ready for outdoor furniture, grilling, or whatever the homeowner wants to do with it. Pavers are one of the best long-term investments for a backyard space because they hold up through Minnesota winters and they don't demand much from you year after year.

Once the patio was in, we finished the surrounding areas with fresh sod and mulch. That part matters more than people realize. A sharp patio next to bare dirt or patchy grass undercuts the whole look. Getting the lawn and bed areas dialed in at the same time ties everything together and gives the backyard a finished, intentional feel.

The result is a backyard that actually works now. Clean paver surface, green grass, fresh mulch in the beds - it all comes together without being over-the-top. Simple, well-executed, and built to last. That's really what most homeowners are after.
