This Woodbury townhome had a steep slope and an old retaining wall that had given up. The blocks were tumbling down the hill, completely out of alignment - you can see in the before shots how far gone it really was. That kind of failure doesn't just look bad. It means the slope is actively moving, and every freeze-thaw cycle makes it worse.

We pulled everything out and started fresh with a Recon big block wall. These are large, interlocking concrete blocks engineered specifically for situations like this - steep grades, significant soil pressure, and the need for real height. Smaller block systems just aren't cut out for a job like this. The Recon system gave us the structural capacity to go taller while keeping everything locked in tight.

Once the wall was up, we installed a black aluminum fence along the top. That combination - solid wall below, clean fence above - gave this property a defined edge it never had before. The slope that used to be a liability is now contained, secure, and actually usable space rather than a wasted hillside nobody could do anything with.

On a property like this, getting the wall right the first time matters. A failing wall doesn't fix itself, and a wall that's undersized for the grade will end up in the same spot as the old one. That's why material selection and proper installation aren't things to cut corners on. The Recon big block system paired with experienced hands is what makes the difference between a wall that lasts and one you're replacing again in a few years.
